Getting PBL to Stick with the Right Structures
If you find yourself getting stuck while trying to get project-based learning to stick with the teachers you support, or have sent teachers to project-based learning training and wonder why more teachers aren’t using it — then this training is for you!
Save time in your transforming teaching and learning journey
During this Ford NGL U OnDemand session you are going to meet a district and building-level administrator, as well as a CTE teacher who want to save you time in your transforming teaching and learning journey. This session is all about the essential instructional structures to shift teacher practices.
"You can’t take a traditional teacher and put them in a 3-day training and expect good results. You have to change skill sets over time and you have to have a strategic plan to get there."
Here's the five structures you'll get access to in this session:
- Structure #1Develop a stakeholder group where the teacher's voice can be heard, challenges addressed and decisions made to move the instructional shift forward.
- Structure #2Create a multi year, strategic professional learning plan that includes an assessment of where your educators currently are and includes a scaffolded approach to increase teacher capacity with problem based learning.
- Structure #3Establish a specific focus area each year that educators are trained, coached and held accountable to so they are shifting their instructional practices. This should be clearly communicated repeatedly .
- Structure #4Develop business relationships that become embedded partners in the educational experiences teachers design for students.
- Structure #5Create a method for capturing student voice so that learning is relevant and the experience beneficial through the eyes of the learner. Sample questions to ask district and building staff as you “get curious” in your own discovery of what structures are in place and/or missing.
You'll leave this experience with:
the ability to consider all stakeholders and determine who should be included in the conversation and decision making needed to transform teaching and learning.
the tools to create a timeline and scaffolded plan to shift instructional practices from traditional to problem based learning.
a better understanding of how to consider the voice of students so that learning is engaging, relevant and beneficial for learners.
